Pauline Preston - SSVAPS
I have had an interest in photography and images for as long as I can remember but did not actively take up photography until I joined the Pakenham Camera Club. I do not have any particular favourite subject and like to take photographs when and wherever I can, ranging from snapshots to trying to be creative. I particularly enjoy taking photos of social gatherings, especially when the event is a significant occasion - not necessarily weddings! These are the times that I am glad I now have a digital SLR and I appreciate its ease of use.
The other side of the coin is that I have collected and acquired, cameras from various decades and marvel at how far we have come since those early cameras.
I have been a member of the PCC since 1995 and have spent most of the time on committee. The only position I haven't held is that of Vice President! I am still a B grade photographer, which suits me fine as it allows me to still have a bit of latitude in the quality and composition of my images. I like to think that may be they encourage other members to do better. I was a recipient of the club encouragement award in 1996 and was a member of the winning Venture team of 2010. My biggest achievement is having an International acceptance for an image sent to Swansea in the UK in about 2005.
I am the Licensee of the Post Office in Tynong and have been very lucky enough to be able to combine my camera club interest with my work.
